Board plan software is the system a network marketing company uses to run a board compensation plan without manual work. The board plan – also called a revolving matrix plan – is a small, cycling variant of the matrix: members join a board, the board fills level by level, and when it is complete it splits and pays a bonus. How a board MLM plan works

Most companies start with a 2x2 board. It has 7 positions: one member on top, two members on the second level and four on the third. New members fill the open positions from top to bottom and left to right, through the sponsor's board. When the four bottom positions are filled, the board is complete:

• the member on top cycles out and earns the board bonus defined in your compensation plan;
• the board splits into two new boards, and the two members from the second level each move to the top of one of them;
• the member who cycled out enters the next board, so the cycle can repeat on higher levels with higher bonuses.

Board plan vs matrix MLM plan

The board plan and the matrix MLM plan are different models of matrix network marketing. In an MLM matrix plan the width and depth are fixed – a 3x5 matrix has three positions on the first level and pays commissions down to level five – and members earn level commissions as the whole matrix fills. In a board plan the board is small and closed: it splits when it is full and pays a bonus per cycle instead of per level. Many companies combine both, for example a matrix MLM plan for the main commissions and a board for a cycle bonus.
